Phillip Johnson Richardson aka Phil. has established himself as a promising artist. After attending Northwest School of the Arts in his teenage years, the Charlotte-bred talent honed his raw talents at the University of Cincinnati’s College-Conservatory of Music, where he graduated from the musical theatre program in 2018.

Immediately after graduation, he landed his first role, joining the Chicago company of the sold-out musical phenomenon Hamilton, playing various characters including its namesake Alexander Hamilton. Since then Phil. moved to Brooklyn, NY, and found a successful acting career, with appearances on popular TV shows NBC’s Chicago PD, Fox’s Proven Innocent, HBO Max’s The Other Two, TBS’ The Last OG, Apple TV+ Little Voice (as a series regular) and the A24 film, Sharper. He is set to make his Broadway debut as the “Tinman” in the revival of THE WIZ in March 2024.

Phil. began writing music in 2016 while attending college due to the lack of freedom he felt in a conservatory program. He brings a unique blend of styles to the music scene. His music combines the elements of traditional hip-hop with alternative influences, creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshing. His music is characterized by his emotive lyrics, which delve into personal experiences and address social issues. His expressive tone captivates listeners and draws them into his world. Phil. pushes the boundary of genres by seamlessly incorporating transitional phrases and interjections, adding both depth and dimension to his tracks.
